Borsao Viña Borgia Campo De Borja Grenache 2004

Borsao Viña Borgia Campo De Borja Grenache 2004 Stew on this red. Jorge Ordoñez' real Spanish value, Viña Borgia, is framed like a Cote du Rhone, but comes across as more casual and abstract. The 2004 vintage of this 100% Garnacha (Grenache) from Campo de Borja* was vinified all the way in stainless steel.

Tasting Notes:  Color: Deep candy apple red, translucent. Aromas: Sour black raspberry, pepper, herbs, and gravel. Here is a medium bodied, fleshy dry red with very tart acidity and moderate rustic tannins. The peppery, dark, wildly tart fruit finishes easy.

Closure: Plastic artificial cork.

Excellent value ($7).

Food pairing: Beef stew.

*Campo de Borja is a D.O. located in the political region of Aragón. This region is west of Barcelona and northeast of Madrid, just north of Catalyud and Cava.
