Tandem NV California Syrah

Tandem Winery was founded by a group of friends who previously worked together at Flowers, Hartford Court and Newton, including winemaker Greg LaFollette.  They work closely with select western Sonoma and Mendocino vineyard sources and employ "Burgundian" techniques in their Sebastopol winery, which was converted from an apple processing plant.

Tandem NV California Syrah

More "buttoned down" and classically prepared than the typical Shiraz, Tandem NV California Syrah is a blend that encompasses vintages 2001-2002-2003, 81% Syrah, 19% Sangiovese, primarily sourced from Gabrielli Vineyard in Mendocino County's Redwood Valley.  Ageing was 2-4 years in French oak.  Production was 641 cases.

Tasting Notes: Aromas: Blackberry, plum, sweet caramelized oak and pepper.  The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, dry, with smooth oaky tannins.  Dark fruit and mocha oak define the luxurious finish.

Excellent value ($15).  Closure: Real cork.  Alcohol content: 14.2%.
